From 2 September, we will be changing some of our fares across our network. You can find the changes in the tables below. These changes are, as usual, due to increased costs for us and will allow us to continue to invest in our services to provide the best experience possible for our customers. Most changes should be very small for most customers.
The on-bus changes will be minimal as the Government Help for Households single fare currently remains at £2, providing great value for all customers. The short-hop £1.60 fares around Reading will also not change. Other fares below £2, and the adult transfer ticket will increase by 10p.
Reading All-Bus Day ticket
Reading Borough Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan funding that is supporting the price of these tickets is being reduced, meaning prices need to start returning to pre-funding levels.
The adult day ticket increases to £4.50 from the driver, but will be £4 when bought on the app or by using tap on, tap off.
The young person day ticket will increase to £3 both on bus and on the app
The off-peak group ticket stays unchanged at £5.50, but the peak ticket changes to £10.

Most of our period tickets (7, 30, 90, annual and term) will increase. You can check the tables below for your new prices.
The tables below show the new prices for each zone from 2 September. Single, return and day tickets can be bought from the driver with cash or contactless. It is however often cheaper to buy in advance on our app or website or to use tap on, tap off, which guarantees the lowest overall fare for on the day travel without having to plan your day.

If using tap on, tap off, prices are the same as the app where applicable. Please note, some tickets may be available as tap on, tap off products but not on the app or vice versa.

Reading All-Bus group ticket - up to 4 people
Valid for up to four people (any combination of adults and children) travelling together - valid all day on all buses (even those from other operators) within the simplyReading area. The ticket has a 'peak' price (Monday to Friday before 9.30am) and 'off-peak' price (Monday to Friday after 9.30am, all day weekends & public holidays.)

Our easySaver and boostSaver 10 is a product that gives you 10 single journeys at a discounted price. Each time you travel it deducts one journey from your smartcard. There's no expiry* so it's perfect for occasional travellers. These products are only valid in the simplyReading zone.

Our daysaver 5 is a product that gives you 5 all-day tickets to use on 5 separate days if you’re travelling two or three days during the week but don't need a weekly ticket. It’s great if you’re making lots of journeys in one day or need to use more than one bus route. It is only available on the Reading Buses app and available for the simplyReading, simplyWorkingham & Reading and simplyNetwork areas.
