A dashing new knight has arrived!

We’re excited to announce our brand new, fast service between Reading Station and the University of Reading – white knight 20 - launching on Saturday 21 September!

Taking its name from the University of Reading campus, white knight 20 will run during the university academic year helping speed up travel to and from campus.

Starting from central Reading, white knight 20 will stop at St Mary’s Butts, West Street, Reading Station, and Market Place before “galloping” non-stop to Christchurch Green and Whiteknights Campus - with an average journey time of around 10-15 minutes.

On weekdays, buses on white knight 20 will run up to every 10 minutes from 7.30am until 7pm and up to every 15 minutes during the day and at weekends. On Friday and Saturday evenings (and on weeknights and Sundays until 25 October) buses will run until just before midnight perfect if you’re heading to town for a “knight” out!

If you’re planning to stay out later, our claret 21 route runs 24 hours a day to all these locations, so you’ll always have a bus home!

Single fares cost just £2 on white knight 20 and you can take advantage of tap on tap off or buy your ticket in advance on our mobile app.

For those making a return journey or using more than one bus, our All-Bus day ticket is available on board for £4 with tap on tap off, or for students our boost day ticket costs just £3.50 on our mobile app (verification required).

With buses running up to every 15 minutes, claret 21 is the white knight 20’s noble companion. Buses run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week calling at all stops between central Reading, the University and Lower Earley, and doesn’t waver when travelling late at night or outside of the university’s academic year.

Students who need to travel to the London Road campus or Kendrick Student Village will also find that our claret 21 route is the best option for travelling between town and the University.
