yellow 26 goes electric

2 months ago Mon 20th Apr 2026

We’re excited to announce brand-new electric buses for yellow 26.

Following on from the electric buses recently introduced on purple 17 and claret 21, we’re introducing 7 brand-new zero-emission buses onto yellow 26, replacing the current buses on the route, with an additional ‘generic’ silver bus that can go on any route when your branded bus is being serviced.

The new buses will go into service from Monday 1 June.

a yellow bus that’s actually green

Our new buses might look yellow, but underneath they’re seriously green.

Producing zero emissions, the new electric buses reduce carbon emissions by 86% compared to diesel buses (like the ones they are replacing), and, as they don’t produce any engine noise, they help quieten the roads and environment around them too.

zero emissions, zero compromises

Our new buses aren’t just greener buses; they are more comfortable too.

Much like our electric purple and claret buses, the new yellow 26 buses are fitted with best-in-class features designed to help make your journey even more comfortable, including:

  • USB-A and C charging,
  • Seat back phone holders with wireless charging
  • High back seats with plenty of legroom
  • a glazed staircase and a skylight on the upper deck to help let light in
  • mood lighting fitted throughout
  • two wheelchair bays

Thanks to the heat-pumps installed as part of them being electric, the new buses also feature air conditioning and heating for the winter.
