Windsor Express - Destinations

From museums to shopping and even theme parks here are a few of our favourite destinations to visit on the Windsor Express routes.

London

London Line 702 provides fantastic links to Central London, perfect for some really great days out. And with stops in Hammersmith, Kensington and Victoria it’s ideal for catching a show at the Eventim Apollo or Royal Albert Hall.

It’s pretty handy too for a bit of posh shopping at Harrods or Harvey Nicks. But the possibilities don’t stop there. There are world-class museums and art galleries and constantly new surprises. London has it all, and an awful lot more

Windsor

The royal castle has stood here for 1,000 years, forming the centrepiece of this attractive town overlooking the River Thames.

It’s the largest occupied castle in the world and has been the family home to British kings and queens for all of that time. Ten monarchs are buried in St George’s Chapel.

In the magnificent State Apartments you’ll find some of the finest works of art from the Royal Collection, including paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens and Canaletto.

You can also see Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, created in the 1920s and filled with thousands of objects made by leading craftsmen, artists and designers of the time.

There are cobbled streets and little alleyways to discover and beyond the historic core are many more interesting streets with fine examples of Georgian and Victorian architecture, particularly south of the Castle toward the Long Walk.

You could take a guided tour in an open-top bus from outside the Castle. Get a ticket (it lasts all day) and you can get on and off the bus at several stops around the town. You might prefer to enjoy a relaxing river tour, or even an amphibian Duck Bus tour It’s all there in Windsor.

Or pop over the bridge to discover the charms of Eton, home to the famous school, and with a high street lined with a range of independent retailers.
