We’re nominated for an award

We are incredibly excited to once again be nominated for 2022’s Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Excellence Awards

We have been shortlisted for an award in the Passenger Transport Category which looks for excellence in passenger service, HR and environmental sensitivity.

The category recognises companies for outstanding achievement in the transport of passengers whether by road, rail, water or air and we face tough competition from Transport for London & Go North East – but we are keeping our fingers crossed!

The nomination recognises our reaction to the pandemic - we were determined that all of our communications be as positive as possible, well considered and reassuring for our customers to help them feel safe – Covid was the danger, not buses.

We have also celebrated the amazing work of our employees as key workers and their excellent teamwork keeping services running throughout the 2020 and 2021 lockdowns.

We have sought to make the ‘new normal’ work for the people of Reading with our new daysaver5, specially designed for flexible or hybrid workers with no strings attached to help them save money even when their travel habits changed.

Reading Buses colleagues at Unite the Union set up a food bank to help colleagues who had fallen on hard times.

And it’s not just the people we look after, but the town itself too. We never stopped working on our buses and our fleet now comprises of 61 bio-methane powered buses and the rest now upgraded to meet the latest emissions standards, helping air quality in Reading.

Now, with the help of our team, our customers and Reading as a whole, we’re ready to rebuild after Covid and if we win some awards whilst doing so, then that is a nice addition.

The winners of the Institute’s 29th Awards for Excellence will be announced at a ceremony in London, in March 2022 – we know you will all be keeping your fingers crossed for us too.
