We say goodbye to our 2019 charity
It's always a bittersweet moment at the start of each year as we say goodbye to our charity partner. Over the last year, our employees have been baking, running, volunteering and doing all they can to raise money for Cancer Research UK for Children & Young People.
a huge total raised
We have had a fantastic 2019 with Cancer Research UK for Children and Young People and at our wrap up event at our Reading depot on Friday 10 January, we were delighted to present them with a cheque for a huge £13,192.20!
The event was also a chance for us to recap on an amazing year. We had numerous internal events to raise money such as bake sales, a Christmas raffle and a Christmas market. We also had our employees donating to wear Santa hats and festive jumpers at Christmas.
One of our management team ran two Ultra Marathons to raise over £1000 for the charity and our Text 2 Donate service that was available all year round contributed nearly £2000 to the final total.
And of course, we had our annual Open Day here at the depot where we raised around £8000 as we saw a huge amount of people come through our gates to see what goes on behind the scenes - don't forget to keep your eyes open for this year's date which will be announced soon!
raising awareness too
Our charity partnerships are not just about raising money though, it's also about raising awareness of our charities and the work they do. For Cancer Research UK, this was about helping to raise awareness of their organisation focused on young people. They were delighted with becoming our charity partner and getting the wrapped bus, which helped to spread their message across Berkshire.
We also helped promote Childhood Cancer Awareness Month by having the charity bus on Broad Street in Reading town centre in September - which we know quite a few of you came along to see.
We would like to thank Cancer Research UK for Children & Young People for their support this year which has helped us have such a fantastic year - raising the third highest amount ever! In particular, it's a big thank you to Lisa and Cathy from the charity who have been fantastic the whole year.
As we say goodbye to one charity, we look forward to a new year with a brand new charity. We will be announcing our new charity for 2020 very soon so keep your eyes peeled!
