We have been shortlisted for three awards

We are overwhelmed to have received three shortlistings for the UK Bus Awards later on this year. Each award shortlisting reflects the hard work of our our wonderful employees and the way the town votes with its feet and continues to enjoy our bus services.

The awards will be decided at a star-studded ceremony at the Troxy, London, on 19 November. 

Our categories are; 

Bus in the Community Award - Autism and Accessibility

This award shortlisting reflects our use of our charity of the year scheme to help enhance our knowledge of the challenges people face.

Our 2018 charity, chosen by our employees, was Autism Berkshire – a charity supporting Autistic Children and their families. As part of the partnership with them we included a visit from a young man with Autism Spectrum Disorder in our award-winning training to help drivers to understand more about what it’s like to live with Autism and how they can help people travel with confidence.

Making Buses a Better Choice Award - purple 17

Our shortlisting in this category is an acknowledgement of where we are able to keep reinvesting to generate growth and loyalty for our flagship service. 

We have consistently reinvested in this route and provide a high-quality, environmentally friendly, dependable and highly-visual alternative to the car.

We've improved the service by making boarding faster and more efficient, offered improved facilities including a double wheelchair bay and upgraded to even more environmentally-friendly gas buses.

Top National Bus Depot

The final award that we are in with a chance of winning is the Top National Bus Depot Award. 

It is in recognition of our ‘back to basics’ approach which has helped us to increase customer satisfaction to 94% - the sixth best in England!

By focussing on operational standards we’ve made the depot better, safer and more efficient, while combining it with technology and innovation to make customers happier.

The depot has pulled together as one big team to deliver our legendary 'unrelenting customer focus' to helping us buck the trend in the transport industry for customer growth. Over the past four years, we’ve seen astounding growth on our core Reading routes, with 26% more customer journeys, at 20.3 million per year in 2018.

This is a great achievement, only made possible by the hard work of all our employees. We all have our fingers crossed for the ceremony!
