Show your stripes day - 2026

Today Thu 18th Jun 2026

We have partnered with the University of Reading for a few years now around climate change and especially with carrying the Berkshire warming stripes - firstly on one of our single deck compressed natural gas (CNG) buses, and this year we unveiled the updated version on one of our brand new electric-powered buses which has zero emissions on the road.

On Saturday 20 June, it is the latest Show Your Stripes Day. Show Your Stripes Day is a global moment to share our concern about how the climate is changing and the need for urgent action in our local communities and around the world.

We have two buses carrying the local, Berkshire warming stripes, to illustrate how our climate has changed. It also helps to keep us focussed as we look to continue helping to reduce emissions around the town and make the air we breathe cleaner.

The Climate Stripes, created by climate scientist Professor Ed Hawkins at the University of Reading, powerfully represent how temperatures have increased around the world since the Industrial Revolution. Each stripe represents one year’s average temperature relative to the average temperature of the time period between 1961-2010. The colours transition from cool blues to warm reds to represent the increases in temperature seen throughout the past 150 years or more.
