Service levels for Queen Elizabeth II's funeral

3 years ago Wed 14th Sep 2022

Following the sad news of the death of Her Majesty The Queen, and King Charles III approving a bank holiday for the funeral, we have made preparations for our bus services on Monday September 19.

public holiday timetables

Most services will be amended to run to Bank Holiday timetables (which are the same as Sunday timetables for the most part), although there will be some exceptions. You can check your timetable here - the electronic times have all been updated to reflect this public holiday timetable.

Additional claret 21 services will run between Reading Station and the University to support students arriving for Welcome Week. This means that claret 21 will run up to every 10 minutes. Click here for the timetable

Green Line 702 will now not run on Monday 19 September due to us not being able to serve large parts of the route. This is due to having restricted access to Windsor, Legoland being closed and being unable to access London due to road closures and diversions.

Green Line 703 will still run but is expected to experience severe disruption or curtailed journeys due to road closures along the A4/M4 and in Windsor.

black ribbons on buses

We will also be displaying a black ribbon on each bus in service as a mark of respect, and where safe to do so our drivers will pull over to observe two minutes silence at the appropriate time.

We at Reading Buses, Newbury & District and Thames Valley Buses express the deep sorrow following the death of Her Majesty The Queen and extend our condolences to members of the Royal family at this sad time.
