It's been an early summer in Reading and with the sun shining we turn our thoughts to 'proper' summer - and our summer timetable changes! Some routes will have changes from Monday 30th July.
During the summer, fewer people travel on our buses and, on our higher frequency services, we adjust the timetables to reflect this. Don't worry though, we still leave plenty of buses on the road to get you to where you want to go! Reducing the number of buses during summer helps to save money as well as allowing more of our lovely employees to have some well-earned time off!
Not all changes are just for summer though - we always take the opportunity to look at a few other routes to constantly refresh our network and give you the best service possible. Check the details below to see if your route has any changes and what those changes are.
We will also be adding the new timetables to the timetable pages and journey planners - so if you search for your journey during the summer, you will see the new times. This should be live soon, so keep checking back for confirmation.
Emerald 5 will become up to every 10 minutes during the summer period (it will revert back to every 8 minutes in September). Most people should see little or no difference to their timetables.
Emerald 6 will also become up to every 10 minutes.
Most people should see little or no difference to their timetables.
Route 7 sees some initial minor changes to improve reliability on certain journeys.
There will be wider changes in September to reflect the variable traffic conditions along this route.
Purple 17 becomes up to every 8 minutes for the summer period (it will revert back to up to every 7 minutes in September).
Most people should see little of no difference to their timetables.
Red 22 sees a revised timetable Monday to Fridays to improve reliability.
Yellow 26 becomes up to every 12 minutes during the summer period.
Community Link 28/18 (plus route 991) is a Reading Borough Council supported service. Unfortunately, due to severe funding cuts from Central Government for such services, the council is unable to further support this service and these routes will no longer run from 30 July.
Jet red 102 will also be discontinued due to low usage.
