For Love Your Bus day, we decided to pull together our top 20 reasons why travelling by bus is the best way to get around Reading - some of our facts and features may surprise you...
 

  1. Boost fares - we’re one of only a handful of bus companies that have extended reduced fares to those aged 18 and under. Our boost tickets are also available for students at the University of Reading, West London, and several colleges in the area. This means that you can travel through Reading for even less!

  4. Eco-friendly – we have invested in super eco-friendly biogas buses. This means quieter travelling and cleaner air for Reading. Travelling by bus instead of car saves thousands of tonnes of CO2 – better for the planet, and for Reading!
     
  5. Track your bus - the tracking feature on our app allows you to see where you bus is, and when it will come to your stop – this means that you can plan your effectively.
     
  6. Free WIFI - we offer free Wi-Fi on most of our buses. This means that you can sit back, relax and surf the web, without having to worry about your data.
     
  7. Faster travel - our bus lanes and high spec fleet means that we are often the quickest way to get around Reading! There’s nothing like that smug feeling when you’re whizzing past stationary traffic!
     
  8. Next stop screens - Unsure if your stop is next? Don’t worry! Our on-bus screens show you which stop is coming up next, and our handy route maps give an overview of the journey.
     
  9. Stress-free commuting - why not take the stress out of your daily commute and let our professional drivers take you where you need to be? All you need to do is sit and enjoy the view!
     
  10. USB Charging Points - we have usb charging points on our buses, meaning that you can charge into town without having to worry about your device running out of battery.
     
  11. Plus bus – make your bus and train commute that much cheaper with the Plus bus scheme. Plus bus can be used on several routes across Reading and can save you money!
     
  12. Helping our planet - not only do we invest in ultra-green gas buses, we use solar panels at our depot, invest in the latest green technology, and even collect rain water to wash our windscreens!
     
  13. New buses - we invest in brand new buses with the latest innovative technology to make your journey as comfortable and as pleasant as possible. Our high back and comfy seats, wood effect floor and huge open windows aim to make you feel at home.
     
  14. More ways to pay - buying your bus ticket has never been easier. There are several ways to pay for travel on our buses from cash, to contactless, to paying via our app, we like to make things easy for you so that you can easily buy your ticket without having to worry.
     
  15. 24/7 buses – No need to catch the last bus home - several of our routes run 24/7! Let our professional drivers take you safely home after your night out.
     
  16. Supporting our community - we’re committed to helping our local community which is why we sponsor events like ‘Pride of Reading’ and have a charity of the year. This year our charity is Cancer Research Kids and Teens and so all the profits for our open day will go towards this worthy cause.
     
  17. Audio announcements - our voice announcements tell you which stop is next and which stop the bus is at so you can enjoy the journey without having to worry about missing your stop.
     
  18. Buggy and wheelchair users - have a buggy or wheelchair? We have step-free access to all our buses and they are designed to have space for both wheelchair users and those with buggies.
     
  19. Our colourful fleet – as well as adding a splash of colour to Reading, our colourful buses make it easier for you to see when your bus is coming – and means you don’t have to run if you see the wrong colour bus at the stop! 
     
  20. Free newspapers – keep up to date with the latest news or challenge yourself to a crossword! We offer free Metro newspapers on all our buses so that you can stay informed on your daily commute.
