Reading Half Marathon 2025 - shuttle buses

The Reading Half Marathon is on Sunday 23 March and we are working closely with the organisers to help you get to and from the race village safely.

As there are road closures before and during the race, driving a private car is not advised. There are official parking sites arranged by the organisers.

Shuttle buses to the race

We are once again running shuttle buses to and from the race to help runners and supporters reach the start and finish lines.

Town to the Stadium – M1 shuttle

The M1 shuttle will provide a frequent service running between Central Reading and the start line near the Stadium.

Buses will run from the Southwest Interchange at Reading Station – stop WS. If you are leaving the Station’s south entrance, turn right and head down the steps. You can also reach the stop from Greyfriars Road just off of Friar Street (turn right when you reach the Greyfriar Pub).

Buses will be running frequently from the town starting at 7.00am until 9.40am, running fast along the A33. Between 9.48am and 11.38am, buses will continue to run however will be subject to diversions. Buses will return to their normal route towards the stadium from around 11.42am, running until 2.40pm.

To get back from the Stadium, follow the signs to the buses for stop ME - Google Map reference here. The last bus from the stadium will depart at 3.01pm. We are also running a free shuttle bus service (the M3) from the blue car park to the stadium if you have booked parking in advance with the race organisers.

Tickets for the shuttle cost £1.50 each way for adults and £1 for concessionary pass holders. Children under the age of 5 can travel onboard for free.

Tickets are one-way only and can be purchased as you board by tapping on at the ticket machine using a contactless card, smartphone or watch. We are unable to accept cash on our M1 shuttle service.

Please note that all-bus, day, easysaver, group, and longer-term tickets cannot be used for travel on the M1 shuttle.

Blue car park – Mereoak park & ride to the Stadium – M3 shuttle

The blue car park is located at Mereoak park & ride and you will be able to take the free M3 shuttle bus to the Stadium. Buses start at 6.30am from the car park, running frequently until 2.50pm. 

To get back from the Stadium, follow the signs for buses to the blue car park and head to stop MF - Google map reference here

Tickets for this bus are included in your parking fees.

Road closures

If you are planning to drive in or around Reading on the day of the race, please be aware that many roads will be closed. An official list of road closures and restrictions can be found on the organiser’s website here.
