Reading Half Marathon 2022

After the 2021 edition of the race was run in November last year, the Reading Half Marathon returns to its original date. This year's edition is on Sunday 3 April.

Thousands of runners are expected to show up and take to the streets for the race. As the race runs through many areas of the town, roads will be closed meaning our services will see cancellations, diversions and curtailments.

The table below shows how the race will affect each service running on the day. This is based on current, known, information of road closures and as always is subject to change on the day.

The 8.35am to 12.25pm journeys will use normal route until the Bath Road/Burghfield Road stop and then be diverted via Honey End Lane, The Meadway, Dee Road, Grovelands Road, Oxford Road, Chatham Street and Friar Street to Greyfriars Road stop FG.

Reading to Newbury

The 8.55am to 12.55pm journeys will start from Greyfriars Road stop FG and then run via Stanshawe Road, IDR, Chatham Street, Oxford Road, Grovelands Road, Dee Road, The Meadway and Honey End Lane, picking up the normal route from the Honey End Lane stop on Bath Road.

Burghfield Common to Reading

The 9.26am to 1.26pm journeys will use normal route until the Bath Road/Burghfield Road stop and then will be diverted via Honey End Lane, The Meadway, Dee Road, Grovelands Road, Oxford Road, Chatham Street and Friar Street to Greyfriars Road stop FG.

Reading to Burghfield Common

The 9.00am to 2.00pm journeys will start from Greyfriars Road stop FG and will be diverted via Stanshawe Road, IDR, Chatham Street, Oxford Road, Grovelands Road, Dee Road, The Meadway and Honey End Lane to resume normal route from the Honey End Lane stop.

The 9.05am to 1.05pm journeys will use normal route until Brookers Hill and will then divert via B3270, Beeston Way, Rushey Way, Chalfont Way, Elm Lane, Wilderness Road, Wokingham Road, Forbury Road and Blagrave Street to Reading Station stop SA.

Reading to Arborfield (Orwell Drive)

The 9.30am to 1.25pm journeys will start from Station Road stop SA and will then divert via Forbury Road, Kings Road, Wokingham Road, Wilderness Road, Elm Lane, Rushey Way, Beeston Way and B3270, resuming normal route at Brookers Hill.

The 8.44am to 12.42pm journeys (plus the 8.15am Wokingham to Reading journey) will use normal route until the Reading College stop and will then be diverted via Forbury Road and Blagrave Street to Reading Station stop EM.

Reading to Bracknell 

The 8.45am to 1.35pm journeys will start from Reading Station stop EM and divert via Forbury Road, resuming normal route from the Eldon Road stop.

The 9.15am to 12.45pm will start from Greyfriars Road stop FG and will divert via Stanshawe Road, IDR and Chatham Street to Oxford Road, resuming normal route from the George Street stop.

The 8.46am, 9.24am and 9.40am Reading to Water Tower journeys will start from the temporary bus stop in Chatham Street alongside the car park resuming normal route from the George Street stop.

The 8.41am to 12.40pm journeys will use normal route until Reading College and then will be diverted via Forbury Road, Station North Interchange stop NC, Vastern Road, Caversham Road and Chatham Street to re-join normal route from the George Street stop.

Water Tower to Wokingham Road

The 8.57am, 9.52am and 10.20am Friar Street to Wokingham Road journeys will start from Greyfriars Road stop FG, resuming normal route from Huntley & Palmers.

The 8.49am to 12.57pm Water Tower to Wokingham Road journeys will use normal route until the George Street stop and will then be diverted via Chatham Street, Friar Street, Greyfriars Road stop FG, Caversham Road, Vastern Road, Station North stop NB and Forbury Road to re-join normal route at Huntley & Palmers.

The 7.25am and 8.25am journeys will use normal route until Kendrick Student Village and will then be diverted via Crown Street, Southampton Street and Bridge Street. The 8.55am to 12.52pm journeys will use normal route until the Wychwood Crescent bus stop and will then divert via Wilderness Road, Wokingham Road, King’s Road and Forbury Road to Station stop EK.

Reading to Lower Earley

The 9.20am to 1.20pm journeys will be diverted after leaving Station stop EK via Forbury Road, King’s Road, Wokingham Road and Wilderness Road re-joining normal route at the Wychwood Crescent bus stop.

Reading to Calcot (IKEA)

The 8.50am to 1.30pm journeys will start from Greyfriars Road stop FG and divert via Caversham Road, Chatham Street, Oxford Road, Grovelands Road, Dee Road, The Meadway, Honey End Lane, Bath Road and Burghfield Road to re-join normal route from the Holybrook Crescent stop.

Reading to Turnhams Farm

The 8.39am to 1.09pm journeys will start from Greyfriars Road stop FG and divert via Chatham Street, Oxford Road, Grovelands Road and Dee Road resuming normal route from the Dryland House stop.
