purple 17 walk to raise funds for our charity of the year

2 years ago Fri 13th Sep 2024

As you may be aware, our charity of the year for 2024 is the Royal Berks Charity.

Throughout the year we’ve been raising money for the charity in various ways, including hosting bake sales and of course our Open Day back in June!

Continuing our fundraising, our finance and IT teams will be walking the length of our iconic purple 17 route (which is just under 10km) on Friday 20 September from Tilehurst Water Tower to the finish line at the Three Tuns on Wokingham Road; all in aid raising funds for our charity of the year the Royal Berks Charity.

Already close to their target of £2024 the team hopes to raise much more – any money raised from the walk will help the Royal Berks Charity fund initiatives that provide state of the art equipment, research, improvements to the patient environment and staff training.

Along the walk, our finance and IT teams will be looking to raise the final few pennies along the walk by shaking buckets; as well as handing out a selection of Reading Buses merchandise including pens and tote bags.

You’ll be sure to spot them along the route as many of the team will be dressed in purple t-shirts, costumes and even as a purple dinosaur!

If you spot the teams on the day be sure to give them a cheer to help support them as they walk past.

During the walk we’ll be posting updates of how it’s going on the day on our X account (formerly Twitter), so be sure to follow our account here.
