poppies on buses
You might have spotted some buses around our network sporting poppies on the front of them.
These poppies help represent our respectful tribute to all those who gave their lives in the two World Wars and other conflicts worldwide.
This year, eleven of our buses will be wearing a poppy by Remembrance Sunday and we hope customers will have the chance to see and travel on a bus that has one.
We’ll be keeping the poppies on our buses until after Armistice Day on Monday 11 November.
Alongside the poppies on buses, in recognition of the poppy being a symbol of the Royal British Legion charity appeal; we will also be making a contribution to their campaign.
two minutes silence
As usual, during the minutes’ silences on Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday, our drivers may pull their buses over where it is safe to do so.
This allows them to respect and reflect on those who gave their lives. If you are travelling on one of our buses when this happens, we ask that you please respect the driver during this time.
free travel for Armed Forces personnel
As a thanks for your service, and to help you get to and from the various Remembrance events, we are once again offering free travel to Armed Forces Personnel on Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday.
To get your free travel, you either need to be wearing a full uniform, be displaying your medals or have your veteran’s badge on show. You will then be able to use any bus in our network for free on Sunday 10 November (Remembrance Sunday) and Monday 11 November (Armistice Day). The driver will issue you with a special armed forces ticket for that journey - please make sure you get a ticket for every journey you travel.
We hope this helps you get to and from your Remembrance events.
