83 days ago Mon 28th Jan 2019

We are delighted to announce that our new Charity of the Year for 2019 is Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens!

The charity beat two other shortlisted organisations in an employee vote and were the overwhelming choice - receiving around two-thirds of the total vote.

On Monday 28 January we unveiled the charity to the world including showcasing our new charity bus, wrapped in a design by Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens. The bus will become a familiar sight on local routes over the next 12 months as it becomes the most high-profile advert to increase awareness.

a long history of charity

It's our twelfth year of charity partnerships and we are excited for the year ahead and hope that lots of our employees get involved in fundraising and supporting this great charity.

It's our mission to smash the fundraising records this year and we have some great ideas to get our customers involved too.

We are determined to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens to help in their mission to try and find new, better and kinder treatments for children and young people with cancer.

You will be seeing lots about Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens this year both on our buses and in the wider environment as use all our available resources to promote this great organisation.

We also want to hear from you, our amazing customers, as we need fundraising ideas to help make the year an outstanding success.

Whether you suggest activities, donate to our fundraising efforts, or even do some fundraising of your own, we would love to hear from you.

a thank you from Cancer Research UK

Dr Áine McCarthy from Cancer Research UK said: “We’re extremely grateful to the staff of Reading Buses for choosing to support Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens in 2019.

“In the UK, cancer is the leading cause of death by disease past infancy in children and young people aged between 1 and 24. And we know that many survivors can experience serious, long-term side effects, including hearing loss.

“Through the generosity and support of Reading Buses and their customers, we hope as much money as possible is raised for Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens, which will be used to fund research to find new, better and kinder treatments for children and young people with cancer.”
