exciting changes to the lion
We’re making big improvements to the lion route on Monday 6 January with the introduction of a brand-new timetable that’ll see an increased frequency of up to every 15 minutes during the day on Monday to Saturdays.
Sunday services will remain at every 30 minutes with minor changes to the timetable to help improve reliability.
Lion X4 is also being renumbered to 4a so that they appear together on route listings when sorted by number; however there will be no changes to the route or stops it uses.
The majority of the additional journeys will be on the 4a route via the Western Business area, with both the 4 and 4a now running every 30 minutes during the day, combining to run every 15 minutes beyond Bracknell through to Wokingham, Winnersh, and Reading.
extra frequency for extra buses
By now, you will have seen that the investment in lion has been building with frequencies increasing over the last year culminating in the introduction of brand-new buses earlier in the year. We also recently bought three new buses, all lion branded, to support this frequency increase.
The new buses are fitted with comfortable high-back seating, USB, USB-C and wireless charging throughout (allowing you to stay charged while you travel), tables for working from and an air chill system upstairs to help you cool down on warm summer days. There's also a glazed staircase and tinted windows to allow in plenty of natural light and mood lighting throughout the vehicle for when it’s dark too.
All of the changes on the route are to help welcome you on board - and remember, the new fares from January still means a single journey between Reading and Bracknell on the lion will only cost £3 with many intermediate fares being cheaper.
