Choose a more sustainable way to travel this Earth Day!
Taking place on Monday 22 April, Earth Day aims to raise awareness towards the earth’s sustainable environment by educating and informing people worldwide about the environment and sustainable changes that they can make.
One of the easiest ways you can help the environment and make an impact is to consider leaving the car at home and taking the bus instead.
We offer a range of great value fares that can help you save money when you travel with us; such as the £3.40 Reading All-Bus ticket which allows unlimited travel around Reading all day or our £2 single fares across our whole network. You can also take advantage of tap on tap off - which automatically works out the best fare for you for the day, you’ll never pay more than a day ticket!
Our fleet of modern buses includes over 60 biogas vehicles which run on bio-methane, produced sustainably from food and animal waste that reduce CO2 emissions by up to 84%*. All the Reading Buses diesel fleet also have engines rated as Euro 6 which means they are the latest technology to reduce the emissions they put out into the air. This all helps to ensure that when you choose to travel with us, you are choosing a more environmentally friendly way to get around.
A zero-emission future
Thanks to Government funding, in 2025 we will be introducing new zero-emission electric buses to our fleet. These brand-new double-deck buses will be helping make your journey with us even more sustainable and we can tell you that they are extremely smooth and quiet giving you a better overall experience too.
Many of our double-deck buses seat over 80 passengers, meaning that a full double-decker bus has the potential to take a large number of cars off the road too (over 2km worth!) - helping the local environment, improving air quality and reducing congestion on the roads.
Choosing the sustainable option doesn’t mean giving up on comfort though – our buses are fitted with USB charging, super-fast Wi-Fi, comfortable seats with great legroom and many of our vehicles even feature tables too!
So why not give the bus a try this Earth Day!
