capacity checker

3 months ago Fri 19th Jun 2020

There's a brand new feature on our app and website that helps you to help others - introducing the capacity checker!

Use the new function to tell people how busy your bus is - or use it to check things for yourself.

It also allows you to see features of your bus, such as whether it's a single or double deck and if they have WiFi, USB charging etc as well as telling you whether the buses are busy or not - which is especially important during the Coronavirus pandemic. The capacity information is generated by you, our lovely customers.

This update is still very new, so we hope you will all use it and then give us feedback to help refine it and keep improving it.

using the app

checking your bus (and how to tell others how busy it is)

Find your route on the 'live times' screen (the default for users) using the little bus icon in the bottom left hand corner. Once you have selected your route, all the buses appear on the live map. Find the bus you want to see the capacity of and click on it. This will bring up a bus information screen, which, if no one has given any information, will show the capacity as 'unknown' and if others have checked it, it will say how busy it is:

Click the link to 'let other passengers know,' this brings you to a screen where the capacity ranges from 'quiet,' 'moderate' to 'busy' - during the Coronavirus pandemic, this is geared towards the reduced advisory capacities and whether social distancing is possible - so you can choose the level that represents how many other people are on the bus. You can then update this information as more people get on or off the bus by selecting 'improve this information'.

You can use 'live times' and then find the stop you want, you can go to routes and times, select the route and then the stop on the route, or you can simply favourite your stop and find it through your favourites!

Once you have found the stop, click on 'departures' and this will bring you to the the live departures where you can see how busy the stop is!
