Alma leads the charge for the UK Bus Awards
10 months ago
It's a huge congratulations to our Star of the Year, driver Alma Cox, as she has been shortlisted for Top National Bus Driver at the UK Bus Awards which are taking place in London in November.
We nominated Alma as she is the first person to win our coveted Star of the Year award twice.
We were also shortlisted for a further two awards – Top Shire Operator, which we won last year, and Marketing for Growth.
We are obviously thrilled to be shortlisted for three awards at the prestigious UK Bus Awards, but are especially thrilled for Alma. She has worked for the company for over 25 years and her enthusiasm and sunny disposition remains undimmed. She consistently receives lots of customer compliments, her mystery traveller scores are always excellent and she always scores highly on our internal driving measurements.
In the first 48 hours since we posted about her shortlisting on our Facebook page, the story has had nearly 500 comments and over 2,000 ‘likes’ showing just how popular she is with you, our lovely customers.
our other nominations
We are also in the running for two other awards as mentioned above. Top Shire Operator is the overall award category for a bus operator of our size and operation. We won this last year and if we defend our title, we get to compete for the title of Bus Operator of the Year. Last year, we lost out to our fellow municipal operator, and friends, Nottingham City Transport so we are hoping to go one better this year.
The Marketing for Growth award shortlisting is for the our popular Windsor Express routes, The London Line 702 and Flightline 703 which have seen growth over the last few years thanks to striking branding and some key marketing targeted at both tourists and commuters alike.
There was further good news as Heathrow were also shortlisted in the Marketing for Growth category for the Flightline network which was developed in conjunction with us for route 703 from Bracknell, Windsor & Slough followed by route 730/731 from Basingstoke, Frimley & Camberley.
We also are delighted that we got a shortlisting for Will Dawson from our sister company Thames Valley Buses as he is in the running for the Unsung Hero award for his work in their Engineering department.
We hope you all keep your fingers and toes crossed for a win for both Alma and Will!
