125 years of buses

This October, we’ll be celebrating a very special anniversary – our 125th! 

Formed on October 31st 1901 as Reading Corporation, we took over the local tramway system, beginning a story that has seen us shape transport in Reading into what it is today.

Throughout the year, we’ll be celebrating this milestone by looking at some of our notable achievements over the years and paying tribute to some of the notable people who have been part of our history.

buses on Broad Street

Later this year we’ll also be hosting a special event in Broad Street where you’ll be able to see and experience some of the different types of vehicles used by us over the past 125 years. The event will be free to attend and full details will be shared soon.

As part of our celebrations, one of our brand-new electric buses has been decorated with a special 125 years colour scheme. 

This eye-catching design celebrates our legacy over the past 125 years.

As an electric bus, it’ll mostly be found on our electric routes – purple 17 and claret 21, however, this bus is part of our “generic” fleet, which means it can be found on any of our routes around Reading – so be sure to keep an eye out for it!
