route 9 becomes buzz 9
Starting on Tuesday 2 January, route 9 will be receiving a brand-new name, a brand-new look and a brand-new timetable to reflect an extension of the route from Whitley Wood through to Green Park station.
The improvements to this route have been funded by Reading Borough Council's Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) funding from the Department for Transport.
The extended route will see buzz 9 run between Central Reading and Whitley Wood as normal, but from Wentworth Avenue, buses will then run via Spencer Road, Worton Grange, Imperial Way and through Green Park to finish at Green Park station.
Two journeys in the afternoon from Green Park station on weekdays will operate as buzz 9a, serving 300 Longwater Avenue, 100 Longwater Avenue and Reading Gate Retail Park stops.
As part of this route change, buzz 9 will no longer serve the Brayford Road, Gratton Road and Northumberland Avenue terminus stops.
The full route map of buzz 9 can be found here.
Our usual range of great value fares are available for journeys onboard buzz 9 including tap on tap off, the Reading All-Bus day and group ticket and our longer-term simplyReading period tickets.
For customers travelling exclusively within Green Park, there is also a special £1 fare for all journeys that start and end in this area, available either with tap on tap off or from the driver.
Buzz 9 will be getting a brand-new timetable as part of this change, and will now run Mondays to Saturdays. Buses will run every hour from 6am through to 7pm and have been timed to arrive in time to connect to rail services towards Basingstoke from Green Park Station.
We will be introducing buzz-branded buses onto the route as part of this change. These colourful buses will be powered by compressed natural gas putting out 55% less emissions than a diesel bus with a similar type of engine.
