Closure of Friar Street
The section of Friar Street between West Street – Station Road junction will be closed from 19:00 Monday 7th September 2026 until 01:00 on Thursday 10th September 2026
This is due to Resurfacing works by Reading Borough Council
During the closure of Friar Street all services will need to be diverted.
jetBlack 1 & lime 2, 2a: Inbound towards the town centre, please use Cheapside (stop CV). Outbound journeys will pick up from Blagrave Street (stop EO) or Minster Street (stop MQ).
leopard 3, buzz 9 & little orange 19a, 19b, 19c: Will serve St Mary's Butts, Station Road (stop SA), and Market Place (stop MA).
lion 4, 4a: Will serve St Mary's Butts, Blagrave Street (stop EO), and usual stops along Kings Road.
emerald 5, 6, 6a, bronze 11, Greenwave 50, 50a & Mereoak P&R 600: Will serve St Mary's Butts and Station Road.
sky blue 15, 15a, 16: Will serve Cheapside, Friar Street (stop FE), and Minster Street (stop MQ).
purple 17: Journeys towards the Three Tuns will use Cheapside (stop CV) and Blagrave Street (stop EO). Journeys towards Tilehurst are unaffected and will run the normal route.
buzz 18 (towards Tilehurst): Will serve Forbury Road (stop EN) and Friar Street (stop FE). Greyfriars Road and Caversham Road Fire Station stops will not be served; please use Friar Street (stop FE) or Swansea Road instead.
buzz 18 (towards Kenavon Drive) will call at Blagrave Street EO
claret 21: Will serve St Mary's Butts, West Street, Reading Station (stop EK), and Market Place (stop MA).
pink 22, 25 & berry 23, 24: Will depart from Station South West Interchange (stop WS). Buses will not call at Forbury Road (stop EL).
yellow 26: Will serve Blagrave Street (stop EK) and Minster Street (stop MQ).
aqua 28: Unaffected; running normal route and serving all usual stops.
little berry 29: Will use Station South West Interchange (stop WS). Buses after 09:30 will not call at Forbury Road (stop EL).
Royal Blue 33: Will serve Friar Street (stop FE) and Minster Street (stop MQ).
azure 43: Will serve Blagrave Street (stop EO).
Winnersh P&R 500: will call at Minster Street MQ, St Marys Butts, Blagrave Street EO & Market Place (stop MC)
London Line 701 will call at Blagrave Street Stop EK as normal
All stops along Friar Street will be closed 24 hours a day while resurfacing is happening overnight, the day closure due to raised iron works in the carriage way.
Stops outside St Mary Butts Church will also be closed at the above time.
