Offer 2: £1 to the hospital

Visitors to the Royal Berkshire Hospital can now travel there from the town centre – for just £1 a journey.

Our £1 hospital fare is available from the town centre on Premier Routes 9 (red buses) and 22 (lime green buses) and route 19 operated by midi buses.

We provide a high frequency on the combined routes which serve the hospital on a daily basis.

Hospital car parking is £3 for two hours so £1 there and £1 back on the bus will offer very good value for money – without the worry of finding a parking space.

The current price of bus travel on Premier routes 9 and 22 and route 19 is £1.70 each way, so this offer saves you over 40%!

Royal Berks hospital are much in favour of the £1 fare to ease the parking problem. Clive Walsh, Chief Operating Officer of the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, has welcomed the new fare.

He said: “We actively support and encourage people to use public transport whenever possible. This new cheaper fare is to be welcomed and we hope many people visiting the hospital will make use of the service.”

Offer 3: Summer group travel only £5

A reminder that this offer ends on Sunday 5 September 2010.

A new offer will be introduced from the following weekend, so use the bus and not the car especially when doing the Christmas shopping.

The price of this tickets will remain at £5.00 on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays from Saturday 11 September 2010 until Monday 3 January 2011. The normal price of £7.00 will apply on Mondays to Fridays (except Public Holidays).

Offer 4: Campus Link - Students, staff and the general public that travel between the University of Reading Whiteknights and Bulmershe Campus have been given an extra incentive to use the new bus service 19.

A special fare of £1.20 – saving 50p a journey – has been introduced for the new no.19 service for journeys between the University’s Whiteknights and Bulmershe Campuses.

The service, created by Reading Buses following discussions with the University and Reading University Students Union, will provide an hourly direct link between the main campus and the Bulmershe Campus.

We have listened to the requests of students and the University for a direct campus-to-campus link and we hope they will support the new service which we launced on 11January 2010.

We have reduced the fare to encourage usage.

The 19 service offers students a tailor made service between their accommodation and academic studies.
