Thames Valley

Welcome to Thames Valley Buses from Reading Buses. Thames Valley is the name for some of our operations outside the Reading area - it reflects that we have branched out from Reading to help bring great bus travel to more of the Thames Valley area!

Keep up to date with our latest service news on Twitter @thamesvalleybus

what services are we running?

As you have probably heard by now, we have been contracted by Slough Borough Council to take over some routes (or parts of routes) that another operator will no longer run. These are listed below with some information of where they go and, of course, the timetables to go with them.

changes to route 4 (and ticket validity changes) - Monday 3 June

From Monday 3 June there will be some very minor tweaks to our Thames Valley route 4.

We will be aligning the times more closely based on feedback from customers to help make better connections in the local area.

Click here for the new timetable.

There are no changes to times for routes 5 or 6.

Thames Valley day tickets

Due to a lack of use, Thames Valley day products are withdrawn - this applies to both adult and Boost.

First Berkshire ticket acceptance

The reciprocal arrangement with First Berkshire will come to an end on 3 June. Their tickets will no longer be valid on our Green Line or Thames Valley 5 services and vice versa (this does not include Thames Valley routes 4 and 6 which are contracted services - however tickets bought on our route 4 and 6 will not be valid on First Berkshire services).

route 5 - full timetable

We run the whole of route 5 with buses running 7 days a week. The route runs between Slough Bus Station and Cippenham via Salt Hill and Chalvey.

Buses will run up to every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday and then hourly on a Sunday.

Click here for the new timetable.

We will also be running some extra services to complement the daytime services operated by First - see below.

route 4 - evening journeys

We provide the evening journeys for route 4 to complement First's daytime operation daily. The route runs from Slough Bus Station to Maidenhead along the Bath Road.

Buses run hourly from 8.20pm (7.20pm on Sundays) until around 11.30pm.

route 6 - Sundays

We only be provide the Sunday service for route 6 to complement First's Monday to Saturday operation. The route runs between Slough Bus Station and Wexham Park.

Buses run up to every hour.

fares - pay with cash or contactless!

Route 5

Route 5 will operate a special flat fare - meaning no matter where you get on or off, you always pay the same price! If you are travelling between Slough and Cippenham, there are no 'return tickets' - they are just all day tickets instead for better value!

The great news for younger customers is that they can be part of our Boost scheme for route 5! This means that anyone aged 18 & under can get cheaper fares. We will also be extending the 21 & under category to include customers who attend the following local colleges (when showing valid ID):

  • East Berkshire College
  • Uxbridge College

Click here for information on Boost.

single   all day ticket   7 day ticket
 adult  £2.50  £4  £15
 child (5-15)  £1.90  £2.50  £11

Special Slough/Chalvey return

If you are only travelling between Chalvey High Street and Slough, you can get a special £3.50 return instead of the £4 day ticket. This is used as a traditional return (there and back) and is not valid for unlimited travel.

routes 4 and 6

The daytime route fares will apply on route 4 evenings and route 6 evening and Sundays.

connect to Green Line 702/703

We also now operate Green Line 702 between LEGOLAND Windsor and London Victoria via Slough, Windsor and Langley and Green Line 703 between Bracknell and Heathrow Airoport via Slough, Windsor and Langley. Fancy a day out in Windsor or entertaining the little ones at LEGOLAND? Or perhaps you just want an easy and cost-effective way of getting to London for some shopping? Look no further than Green Line.
