Rolling closure of Wokingham Road and London Road for the Vaisakhi Festival

4th May 2025

The Vaisakhi procession will take place on Sunday 4th May 2025 between approximately 1000 and 1500. This will affect lion 4/X4, orange 13 and 14 and purple 17 in East Reading and Earley.

Please expect some delays through out the day while the festival is in place.

All Outbound stops along Wokingham Road will be out of use Hamilton Road, College Road, Palmer Park Avenue, St Peters Road, Three Tunns, Mays Lane, Stanton close ,Earley Station, Henley Wood Road, Meadow Road and the George.

The procession will start at 10:30 in Cumberland Road and will travel via London Road, Cemetery Junction, Wokingham Road, Church Road, Culver Lane, Whitegates Lane and The Drive and back along London Road.

Stage 1 Closure of Outbound Wokingham Road

Lion4/4A during the Procession will divert as follows towards Bracknell- onto London Road,A329, then onto Loddon Bridge/ Winnersh Junction to resume normal route from Showcase Cinema.

Lion 4/4a Towards Reading will do normal route with a slight delay.

Purple 17 will not serve The Three Tunns.

Purple 17 Towards Three Tunns will divert as follows- along London Road and will terminate and start from London Road the Drive layby bus stop Just after Sutton Seeds
Roundabout.

Purple 17 Towards Reading will start from London Road the Drive layby bus stop, along London Road resuming Normal Route from Cemetery Junction bus stop.

Stage 2 closure of Church Road/ Whitegates Lane/ The Drive

Purple 17 and Lion 4/4a will remain on Stage 1 Diversion Throughout.

Orange 13 towards Woodley will be on normal route until the procession comes along The Drive, once The Drive becomes blocked Orange 13 will divert via Shepherds House Hill, Reading Road, Howth Drive onto Woodlands Avenue to resume normal route from Fairwater Drive.

Orange 13 towards Reading will do normal , missing out The Drive Bus link.

Orange 14 Towards Woodley will be on normal route.

Orange 14 towards Reading from Fairwater Drive turn right onto Woodlands Avenue , then Howth Drive, Reading Road, Shepherds House Hill along London Road, we will not be using The Drive bus link.

Stage 3 Church Road and Whitegates Lane Clear

all services will not be using The Drive bus link.

Orange 13 Towards Woodley will divert via , Shepherds House Hill, Pitts Lane resuming normal Route from Culver Lane bus stop on Church Road.

Orange 14 Towards Reading will divert from Culver lane bus stop , along Pitts Lane, London Road resuming normal route from Sutton Seeds Roundabout.

Stage 4 Remaining on Diversion

Orange 13/14 will remain on diversion avoiding The Drive and Whitegates Lane until the festival has concluded.
