Nine Mile Ride Closure from Mon 6 Jan

After the break in work for Christmas and New Year, Nine Mile Ride works will resume again from Mon 6 January.

The new work will be on a section of the road between Robinson Crusoe and California Country Park. The road will be closed from Monday 6 January until around Wednesday 17 July. This is for South East Water Mains Replacement work.

During the closure, Leopard 3, 3b & School Service 93 will be on diversion. There will also be a free shuttle between Sheerlands Road and Hogwood Lane Industrial Estate to connect people to the leopard services. 

Leopard 3

From Reading to Wokingham

Buses will follow the normal route to Sheerlands Road bus stop. They will turn left onto Princess Marina Drive, and left Biggs Lane to roundabout. They will then take a right onto Langley Common Road becoming Barkham Road. Another right onto Barkham Street becoming Barkham Ride. Finally, they will U-turn at the roundabout and follow normal route to Wokingham.

From Wokingham to Reading

Buses will follow the normal route to Barkham Ride. They will U-turn at the roundabout and return along Barkham Ride becoming Barkham Street. They will take a left onto Barkham Road becoming Langley Common Road. Left onto Biggs Lane, right Princess Marina Drive and right Baird Road to Sheerlands Road bus stop. They will then continue to use the normal route to Reading.

Buses terminating at and starting from Sheerlands Road and the morning journey to Bohunt School are not affected and will follow normal route.

Leopard 3b

From Reading to Bracknell bus station

Buses will follow the normal route to Sheerlands Road bus stop. They will then divert, taking a left to Princess Marina Drive, left Biggs Lane to roundabout, and a right onto Langley Common Road becoming Barkham Road. They will then go right to Barkham Street becoming Barkham Ride, right Finchampstead Road and left Nine Mile Ride. They will then follow the normal route to Bracknell.

From Bracknell to Reading 

Buses will follow the normal route to Nine Mile Ride. They will then take a right onto Finchampstead Road, left to Barkham Ride becoming Barkham Street. They will go left onto Barkham Road becoming Langley Common Road, left to Biggs Lane, right Princess Marina Drive and right Baird Road to Sheerlands Road bus stop. They will then follow the route as normal to Reading.

School Service 93

This service will be diverted along the same route as the leopard 3, extending via Sheerlands Road and Nine Mile Ride Extension to/from Bohunt School.

Shuttle Service

There has been an agreement with South East Water to run a free shuttle bus between Sheerlands Road bus stop and California Country Park. This will be numbered leopard 3Z, and will run from 7am-7pm Mondays to Saturdays and the timetable for the shuttle bus can be downloaded here

No fares are charged on the shuttle service. You will just need to pay on the normal service bus.

Bohunt School

Students travelling towards Wokingham and Bracknell,or Reading on the leopard 3 or 3b are advised to use the safe walkway along Sheerlands Road to the Sheerlands Road bus stop.

Those normally using the leopard 3 or 3b along Nine Mile Ride have been advised to use the Sheerlands Road stop instead and transfer to the shuttle bus to use the safe walkway to Hogwood Industrial Estate.
