Mech/Elec Technician and a Body Repair Technician apprenticeship vacancies
We are looking to recruit problem-solvers of tomorrow by training our own people. We’re offering apprenticeship places at Reading Buses, based across our state-of-the-art sites in Newbury, Reading and Bracknell. You’ll be working on the latest gas, diesel and hybrid vehicles, and learning to service, repair and diagnose problems with mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring our vehicles are safe, reliable, cost-effective and presented to the highest standards.
Starting in September 2019, over the four-year apprenticeship you’ll work shifts covering all of our operating hours and the different aspects of our workshop tasks. You’ll attend college on block release during the first three years to achieve NVQ3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, and you’ll be responsible for diagnosis and repairs in your final year.
This is a full time role 38 hours a week Monday – Friday, initially starting at 06:00 and 09:00 on a rotating shift basis. Pay starts at £7.81/hr in the first year, rising to up to £19.50/hr with shift allowances after completion. We’ll also cover costs to achieve your car and bus driving licences, as well as a contributory pension scheme, free bus travel and all the other perks of working for a respected municipal bus operator. We’re looking for 5 GCSEs at grade A-C and a genuine interest in vehicles, engineering and customer service.
