It's Catch the Bus Week from Monday 2 July.
The week is the bus industry's chance to showcase their services and to encourage non-users to 'give the bus a go,' as well as tempt occasional users to consider using buses more often.
We has been heavily involved in Catch the Bus Week for several years and this year is no different! For 2018, we are focusing on technology and specifically our new app.
Everyone who has downloaded the new Reading Buses app by Friday 6 July will be entered into a free prize draw - this includes customers who have already downloaded it.
Two lucky winners will win a simplyReading 30 day mTicket (worth £57) and five runners up will each win an easysaver 10 mTicket (worth £16). The winners will be notified and then have the tickets 'pinged' directly to their phones!
The app makes travel super easy for non-users as it gives you all you need to use the bus without worrying. See the highlights below or check out our app user guide.
Use the app to find your service and see the times from your stop on the day of travel - or for future dates.
Use the live departure boards that tell you when your bus is due, or track it live on a map. You never have to worry about standing around waiting for the bus - just leave for the stop when you know it's on its way!
Register your details and buy your tickets for travel. The QR code scans quickly on our ticket machines and away you go!
Period tickets are great for regular travellers as they save against the on-the-day fare. And for occasional users can benefit from the easysaver 10 and boostsaver 10 (for 18s & under) - these give you 10 single journeys bought together (but used separately) for £16 and don't expire until you use them.
Our feed of the latest issues on our network shows you issues that are happening that might affect your journey. Best used in conjunction with the live times!
Each year, Catch the Bus Week, organised by Greener Journeys, an industry group, celebrates the great benefits of using buses with their campaign as well as how bus travel helps the environment.
Travelling by bus instead of car also frees up road space, with a fully loaded double deck bus capable of taking up to 75 cars off the road. This makes journey times shorter and more reliable for all road users.
