How to buy a READIPAY paper Travelcard

As well as topping up Smartcards, Paypoint retailers can issue 7 day or 30 day paper Travelcards. Once you have selected the product you require, the PayPoint retailer will issue the ticket and seal it in a special wallet.  If the ticket is not sealed in the special wallet, it is not valid for travel.

Useful information about Paypoint – Payment by cash and ID cards

At most PayPoint outlets you will need cash to purchase a product, as credit and debit cards are generally not accepted.

For the TVU and the Reading University products, a valid TVU or Reading University ID card needs to be produced.  The retailer will enter the ID card number on the ticket.

For children aged five years and up to their 11th birthday, the PayPoint retailer will enter the child’s name on the ticket.

For children aged eleven years and up to their 14th birthday, the PayPoint retailer will enter the child’s name on the ticket.  If the child has a READI-id smartcard, this must be produced and the PayPoint retailer will enter the READI-id serial number on the ticket.

For children aged 14 years and up to their 16th birthday, and for students aged 16 years and up to their 19th birthday in full time education, to obtain products at child rate a READI-id smartcard must be produced, the PayPoint retailer will enter the READI-id serial number on the ticket.  A READI-id smartcard application form can be obtained from our Customer Services Department by telephoning 0118 959 4000 or in person from our new Travel Centre in the Broad Street Mall.  The completed application form should be sent to our Customer Services Department, Great Knollys Street, Reading, RG1 7HH.
