Why are we making changes to services?

We are making these changes as many of these special services have been running at a loss for some considerable time. Therefore, these changes are to get these services to cover their costs of operation.

What are the changes?

Some buses have changes to timetables, with some buses leaving earlier than previously. Some have changes to route and others have been withdrawn. Please read below to see what has changed about your school bus for 2009/10 Academic year. Please note: for some normal routes there are changes from 28th September also, which are listed below.

Why have some routes been withdrawn?

Where routes have been withdrawn this is due to the economic climate and the considerable loss these services were making. In many cases there are alternative buses, which are listed below. As we are unable to run these services on economic grounds, the local council for the area is enabled under the 1985 Transport Act to make provision to replace withdrawn services where it considers this to be in the public interest and cost effective.

	Hugh Faringdon	Tilehurst	Withdrawn. Use alternative buses to and from the Town Centre. Call Customer Services on 0118 959 4000 for your best route to and from Hugh Faringdon.
	Bulmershe	Lower Earley	Withdrawn. Please send any comments about the withdrawal of this service to Wokingham Borough Council.
	Abbey, Kendrick, Reading, St Joseph's	Caversham Heights	Withdrawn. Replaced by new school service 981 below.
NEW	Abbey, Kendrick, Reading, St Joseph's, Bulmershe	Caversham Heights - Reading Schools - Woodley	New school route combining special school services 922 and 81. If you used to get the 922 - Change to timetable (earlier in morning). If you used to get the 81 - Change to timetable (earlier in morning), Morning and afternoon journeys no longer serving bus stops at Foxhill Road (on Addington Road) and Hatherley Road (on Erleigh Road). Afternoon journey no longer serves Allcroft Road (on Redlands Road) and Redlane Court (on Addington Road) due to Hospital area route changing to fit better with afternoon school finish times. > View timetable...
	Prospect College & Denefield School	Coley Park	Change to morning journey time. Afternoon journey now runs non-stop from Denefield School to St Michael's (The Meadway). > View timetable...
	Prospect College & Denefield School	Whitley	No longer serving Denefield School - For journeys to/from South Reading use Premier Routes 4, 5 or 6 to town centre and change to Premier Route 16, For journeys to /from West Reading, please use Service 991. For Prospect College - Change to timetable, Change to morning route, Now running between Northumberland Avenue (Brayford Road) and Prospect College only (please note most of Northumberland Avenue is no longer served), Afternoon route now runs non-stop from Prospect College to Admirals Court (Berkeley Avenue), Afternoon route in Whitley is now via Hartland Road, Norhtumberland Avenue, Whitley Wood Road, Whitley Wood Lane and terminates at the Spencers Road stop. 	Willink	Tadley	No change to route and times (between 2nd -25th September), Please note this route is being withdrawn after 25 September 2009 - Please send any comments about the withdrawal of this service to Hampshire County Council, Single and return fares on this route have changed (from 3rd August 2009).
	Reading Boys school, Kendrick, St Joseph's Convent	Tilehurst	Withdrawn. Please use Premier Route 15 to town centre and Premier Route 9, 22 or Service 62 to Hospital area.
	Denefield	Tilehurst	No change to times, Route extended to Reading Station. The afternoon journey which starts inside the school grounds is renumbered 916.
	Highdown	Emmer Green	No change except that the afternnon bus which start outside Highdown School in Surley Row is renumbered 924.
	Ryeish Green	Central Reading	Withdrawn. Customers in the Reading area should send any comments to Reading Borough Council. Outside the Reading area please contact Wokingham Borough Council.
