As well as contacting us by phone or on the Internet, you can also get bus times on your mobile phone through Traveline NextBuses and Traveline.txt.
NextBuses is a new service from Traveline. It is designed to work on mobile phones that have internet. Simply visit www.mytraveline.mobi on your mobile phone or try it now.
If you can't get the NextBuses service on your phone you can check the next buses from a particular bus stop by sending the bus stop code in a text.
By using Traveline.txt you can get bus times sent directly to your mobile phone via text message. Here’s how!
Step 1 – Find your bus stop code
Your bus stop code is displayed on all Reading Buses and Newbury Buses timetables displayed at bus stops. Codes are also listed in some timetable leaflets, on www.travelinesoutheast.org.uk or by calling Traveline on 0871 200 22 33.
Step 2 – Send your text message
Simply type the stop code as a text message in your mobile phone - and send it to the Traveline text number 84268. Texts are charged at 25p plus your standard network rate.
If the stop is a busy one, then you can also add the service number you want (leaving a space after the stop code) ... so your message might look like "rdgamjw 9".
Remember the service is specific to an individual stop for travel in that one direction... the code for the stop in the other direction will be different!
Step 3 – Your text message from Traveline
You will then receive your reply via text message, normally in less than a minute, showing:
• The times of up to the next four buses due at that particular stop
• The service number of each bus
• The destination of each bus
Where available real time information will be given, so you know exactly when your next bus is due to arrive!
