Market Place/Cheap Street closure in Newbury

From the 28^th of January 2008 Market Street/Cheap Street in Newbury will be closed to traffic for a period of up to 12 weeks. This closure will affect the ability of Newbury Buses services to access the Bus Station and therefore alternative stopping/route arrangements will apply during this period.

These alternative arrangements are as follows:

Newbury Bus Station

The following services will continue to operate from the Bus Station:

- Service 3 Greenham & Greenham Park

- Service 4 Lambourn

- Service 6/9 East Ilsley Circular

- Service 13 Kintbury & Hungerford

- Service 11/11a/12 Thatcham

- Service 11/11a/12 Greenham and Glendale

- Service 32 Basingstoke

- Service 78 Reading Football Club

- Service 101 Newbury – Bucklebury – Reading

- Service 104 Newbury – Tadley – Calcot

- Service 105 Newbury – Aldermaston - Theale

Service 13 will not serve Northbrook Street/Newbury Clock Tower during this period.

Newbury Market Place

The following services will start and terminate at the Market Place:

- Service 102 To Thatcham, Theale and Reading

- Service 4 To Park House School

- Service 6 To Park House School

- Service 14 Greenham & Park House School

- Service 15 North Newbury

The following services will only terminate at the Market Place

- Service 4 from Lambourn

- Service 6 & 9 from East Ilsley

- Service 101 from Bucklebury & Reading

- Service 104 from Tadley & Calcot

Services will leave the Market Place and Newbury via Bear Lane and the A339.

Shelter accommodation will be provided at the Market Place during this period and a Newbury Buses representative will be on site.

Further information

During the period of the closure we will attempt to operate all services as per the present timetables but there may be some disruption due to traffic congestion.

During the closure it will not be possible to provide a through service on services 11/11a/12 between Thatcham, Greenham and Glendale. Services from Greenham/Glendale will terminate at Newbury Bus Station with no through journey to Thatcham. Service from Thatcham will terminate at the Market Place. Passengers will be required to change at Newbury for onward travel. Through tickets will be available from the driver.

The travel centre at the Bus Station will remain open during this closure, Mon - Fri 09.00 to 15.00.

During the period of the closure it may be necessary to change the proposed stopping arrangements and any changes will be advised both by notices and the website.
