Lower Earley and Earley

Summary of changes

·        Service 12 will be renumbered 21 to bring it in the sequence of service numbers (18, 19 and 20) already operating in Lower Earley.

·        Service 20 which currently terminates in Cutbush Lane at Bradmore Way will be extended to Asda during the daytime.

·        The Monday to Saturday daytime frequencies on both Services 20 and 21 will be improved from the present every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes.

·        Services 20 and 21 both have changes to the morning peak timetables to give a more even spread of services into Central Reading.

·        Following customer comments received during the latest Reading Buses Customer Satisfaction survey, we are also doubling the Sunday daytime frequency on Service 21 (the current 12 Service which is the main service through Lower Earley) from the present hourly service to operate every 30 minutes.

·        Services 20 and 21 will be colour-coded maroon and will be a mixture of single and double deck vehicles.

·        The brand new colour-coded buses are all low-floor and easily accessible to make travelling easier for customers with pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Your comments

The improved service level during the daytime and on new Service 21 on Sundays has broadly been welcomed.

A number of respondents requested improvements to frequencies at rush hours and during the evenings on Services 20 and 21 and also on Services 18 and 19, together with links to Winnersh Triangle, Royal Berkshire Hospital and a Sunday service on the Loddon Bridge Fasttrack service.  Whilst we currently do not have the resources to improve service levels further, these suggestions will be reviewed when the opportunity arises to further improve services in the Earley and Lower Earley areas.
