Each month, we receive nominations from people for their 'Stars' of the month. These can be from members of the public, other companies and even from our own staff.
From this list, a winner is chosen to be the Star of the Month and receives an invitation to our glittering celebration evening at the start of the new year.
On Saturday 26 January 2013, we held our annual 'Night with the Stars' at Highfield Park to celebrate members of staff who have done great things over the past 12 months. Celebrations centred around retirements, long service and professional qualifications attained.
The main focus of the evening was though, of course, to celebrate our Stars of the Month and to crown our Star of the Year!
With speeches from the Reading Buses Chairman, David Sutton, and the Chief Executive Officer, James Freeman, the attendees were commended for their efforts in improving the company immensely which led to Reading Buses' crowning as Top Shire Operator at the UK Bus Awards 2012.
Mr Freeman explained that the decision to name our Star this year, although difficult due to the high calibre of entries, produced a clear winner. For her dedication, attitude, excellent performance and her personality which brightens customers' days our Star of the Year deserved her victory.
Alma Cox was declared the standout performer of 2012 and the Reading Buses Star of the Year!
The presentation was sent out in real-time over the company's social media, with postive messages flooding in from our followers. One customer even wrote on Facebook that their child calls Alma 'the happy lady driver'.
Alma was presented with her award by the Chairman and our Star of the Year 2011, Chris Mocko, who was delighted to hand over the baton to such a deserving winner.
A richly deserved win and massive congratulations from all of us at Reading Buses!
If a member of staff has made your day, why not nominate them for Star of the Month. It takes 2 minutes and you could win an easysaver 10!
