Access Standards

Route numbers

We are committed to extending access to all passengers, especially for the elderly and those with disabilities.

  • All of our buses have priority seats
  • On many routes we use Low floor, easy access buses
  • Our new buses have entrance ramps and can hydraulically lower the front of the vehicle

How to use the bus

  • When your bus approaches, please signal to the driver
  • All buses will stop where there is a wheelchair user at the bus stop
  • Ask the driver to kneel the bus and or deploy the ramp
  • Please keep clear of the bus whilst it is kneeling or deploying the ramp
  • If you are visually impaired or are unsure that the bus is the correct one, ask the driver he/she will be pleased to assist you with your inquiries
  • Guide and hearing dogs are allowed on buses free of charge

On the bus

  • Every accessible bus has a priority space. This space is allocated for a wheelchair and may also be used for a buggy. Only one wheelchair or buggy may occupy this area. Brakes must be applied on your wheelchair and you must face the rear of the vehicle with the back of your wheelchair tight against the long head restraint for your safety and comfort.
  • When a buggy is occupying this space, the child will be left in the buggy and the brakes must be applied. The parent or guardian should either sit or stand with the buggy. In the event of any difficulty please inform the driver.

Arriving at your destination

  • Please press the bell in time when approaching your required stop, so that the driver can stop safely.
  • Make your way to the exit but do not pass the driver's cab door until the bus has come to a complete stop.
  • If you require the kneeling facility or the ramp ask the driver.
  • Wait until the bus has completed kneeling or the ramp is fully down before attempting to leave the vehicle.
